Ireland's greatest Golf Courses are waiting
Mention golf in the North of Ireland and two courses dominate the conversation. Royal Co. Down & Royal Portrush enjoy a special niche all to themselves and are regularly and justifiably placed at the top of polls voting on the world's best links. For sheer beauty of location there are few courses anywhere to touch Royal County Down at Newcastle. It has drawn countless tributes from some of the game's leading writers, such as... "somethings are beyond price and, for golfers, most of them are to be found ' where the Mountains of Mourne sweep down to the sea".
Beautiful? Certainly
A powerful test of golf? Definitely!
Still, Royal Portrush is something special, the only Irish course to host the British Open. That was in 1951 when Max Faulkner was the winner. It's that good.
Also the northern region has two wonderful links at Portstewart and Castlerock which will give undoubted pleasure to the visiting golfer.
Belfast itself is surrounded by many parkland courses at Royal Belfast, Malone, Belvoir Park, Ardglass and Clandeboye to mention but a few, are as fine as you would find anywhere.
The first thing you will notice in this region is the hospitality and friendliness of everybody.
